Kristin Ess Hair: My Full Review

If you follow my instagram you’ll know its no secret that I am a huge fan of Kristin Ess Hair! I’ve also talked about a few of her products before on my blog (Here and here). And the number one question I still get is: what I think about the products? So, I figured I would finally compile all my thoughts into a post!

Disclaimer: these are my own opinions and experiences with the products, everyone has different hair and likes so what works for me may not work for you.

Leave-in Conditioner

This very quickly became one of my favourite products! I’d never used a leave-in conditioner that was so weightless. This makes my hair soft and helps keep it from getting so tangled. I’m also pretty sure this is going to last me forever because it’s such a big bottle and you only need a little bit each time. I use this after every shower – just sprayed into my damp hair. It’s weightless and plays well with other products. When my sister asked for recommendations this was my top choice for her to pick up.

Air Dry Creme

I loved this when my hair was long, but I’ve loved this even more since I’ve cut my hair. I usually prefer my hair blow-dried, as its smoother and easier to manage but since my hair has been shorter I actually like the little bit of volume and movement that air drying gives it. Using this keeps it from getting so frizzy and makes it smooth and soft.

Blow Dry Mist

If you blow-dry your hair this product is a dream. A product that not only protects your hair from the heat but also cuts down on your dry time? Sign me up. I use this when I blow dry my hair, and also when I curl it (as its a heat protector as well!). This is a staple for me.

Restorative Hair Mask

I’ve talked about this mask before on my blog – as its one of my favourites. I use this instead of my regular conditioner every other time I wash my hair. It doesn’t weigh it down but keeps it hydrated and healthy. It works just as well as some of my expensive masks, but for a fraction of the price.

Rose Gold Temporary Tint

I’ve heard a lot of people say this product is really messy, but that wasn’t my experience. I used it on my hair when I washed it in the sink, then towel-dried it, applied the tint, and then washed it out. It lasted 3/4 washes and faded slightly with each wash. The colour showed up pretty well in my hair, however, I do lighten my hair. This was beautiful, I’m just not a huge fan of wearing pink so this just wasn’t my colour. I think this is such a fun way to change things up for a bit, but not damage your hair permanently.

Signature Shampoo & Conditioner

I really liked these two! I only got them in the travel sizes so I can’t say too much about them or about their long term effects but they ticked all my boxes (S: lathered easily & cleaned my hair C: spread easily & hydrated and detangled), plus they smell amazing!

Hair Water

I used this in a few different ways. Mainly, I would use it to spray the baby hair around my face so they would curl and give a softer look around my face. But also to “refresh” my hair after the gym (ie. spray my sweaty hair with this and re-blowdry), and also if I overdid any curls I would lightly spray them with this to give a more natural beachy look to them. I didn’t bring this with me when I moved – and I didn’t think that I would miss it but I do. It’s one of those products I didn’t know I needed until I had it.

Hair Gloss

THIS is probably my favourite product by Kristin Ess. Her gloss not only makes my hair shiny but it also works as a toner to change the colour slightly. I’m bad at describing what I want to hairdressers so after one particularly terrible experience I used this to warm up my extremely cool-toned hair and make it a little warmer. My sister also uses the red one on her naturally red hair and it makes the red brighter which looks so beautiful!

Comb & Brush

Look I’d be lying if I said I didn’t buy this comb to use in photos, but it also happens to be a really good comb. I like to use it to brush out my hair when I curl it. The hairbrush I bought because I realized I need to start brushing my hair more. When my hair started falling out I was so scared to brush it that I just didn’t. However now it’s a little healthier sometimes I don’t want messy hair, and this is a really nice brush – it’s gentle and doesn’t rip out my hair.

Overall, I would highly recommend her products. They’re affordable and they work! She’s launching some new products soon so I’m already saving up to get it all.

You can buy Kristin Ess at Target in the US, Boots in the UK, and Well.ca in Canada!
