January Reading List 2019

January Reading List 2019

Why hello 2019! Apparently, I took a little bit more of a break than I intended to after blogmas, however, I am back and ready for more blogging come 2019. Starting off the year with one of my favourite topics, books! Last year I read around 24 books, that’s two books a month (right in line with my January 2018 goals!). This year, I’ve set my sights a little higher. My 2019 goal is to read 36 books (approx. 3 a month). I’m starting off my January strong, with a goal of 4 books this month (mainly because that’s what I’ve taken out from the library). I usually read 1-2 books at a time, switching between them interchangeably.

My January Reading List:

  • The Night Circus
  • Morning Star
  • The Time Travellers Wife
  • Where Rainbows End

So far I’ve read 2/4 books on my January list, and today I am hoping to check number 3 off the list as well! The first two books I’ve read are The Night Circus – which well lived up to the hype, and The Time Travellers Wife which I have mixed feelings about.

I really loved the Night Circus, and it gets a solid 5/5 stars from me. With mystery, magic, and a love story it really had me hooked! It was definitely a book I looked forward to picking up and one that I truly enjoyed.

The Time Travellers Wife on the other hand I am a bit iffy about. I didn’t hate it, and I did finish it, but I have a few problems with the plot. It was a little too morally ambiguous for me, and I often found myself struggling to read about a 12-year-old being in love with a 40-year-old man (as I should!). The concept of the book is cute, with two people in different timelines falling in love separately and together, blah blah blah. It gets 3/5 stars.

The third book on my list to read is Morning Star – I’ve talked about this book, and this series before! I am 3/4th through it at the moment and so incredibly sad about what’s happening. That’s all I’ll say for now as I don’t want to give any spoilers. The fourth book in this series will definitly be on my Feburary Reading list.

My last read for January will be Where Rainbows End! At Christmas, I read One Day in December and it got me thinking about the movie Love, Rosie – which is based on this book! So I figured, as I’ve seen the movie I should give the book a read. I am hoping its a bit of a feel-good romance book because I will need a little cheering up after finishing Morning Star!

That’s what I’m reading this month! You can always keep up with what I am currently reading and what’s on my to-read list on my Goodreads if you are interested! Happy reading xx

Sometimes we all need a break when I comes to blogging – I took a mini break in December that took a bit longer than I thought but really necessary to get my creative thoughts in order 🙂

YAY 24 books! I read 14 books and this year I’m really trying to increase that number – I’ve set my goodreads challenge to 50 books! (Though I am also reading The Deathly Hallows again because I thought I flew WAY too fast through it, I’ll eventually get to another book haha.)

YAY another person who gets books from the library (I always feel like everyone’s buying books and I feel a bit left out since I borrow from the library) I actually haven’t ever read 1-2 books at a time, I usually tunnel straight through 1 and become emotionally invested in fictional characters, can’t imagine getting attached to fictional characters at the same time from two different books haha.

I haven’t heard of the Night Circus before – just read the summary on goodreads – and I’m already invested in Celia and Marco lives – definitely adding it to my want to read list! I’ve heard of the Time Travellers Wife before but wasn’t so blown away by the summary!

The movie Love, Rosie sounds so so familiar – mini break as I watch the trailer – AHH It looks like such a cute movie!!! I think that might be the book I read after I finish up The Deathly Hallows!!

50 books is an amazing goal! – The Harry Potter series is on my read list for this year! I’ve never read any of the books – or seen any of the movies!
Yes! I love the library! I can easily go through a book or two a week and do not have the kind of money to be buying books that often! Thankfully my job also allows me to get in once or twice a book to pick up and drop off my books! I have always read 2+ books at once, usually in different genres for when I’m in different moods – also it’s pretty common for me to read a fiction and non-fiction book at once so that is another reason!
I really loved The Night Circus! It’s so magical and a really beautiful story! I definitely think you should give it a read! 🙂 xx
