I’ve done a lot of beauty posts lately so I’ve decided it was time for a little lifestyle favourites post! My Summer favourites feature some of the things I’ve been loving watching, reading, and listening to this summer! So grab a cup of coffee and get settled, this is a long post!
This is probably my favourite Instagram page ever. Anna’s aesthetic is perfection, her photography is stunning and her editing is so beautiful! My lock screen or phone background (sometimes both) is always one of her photos. It always makes me want to take a trip back to Paris.
Recently I have been so un-inspired with Instagram, I find so many pages have a nice theme when you visit their profile but when I see the pictures in my feed I just don’t care for them. Polly’s photos however never let me down! Her photos are so stunning and unique and her theme makes me want to up my insta game.
Look, if you know me at all you know I don’t like period pieces. I like a good World War II movie, but historical drama tv is not my thing. However, obviously I’ve been in a weird historical kinda mood because all my favourites this summer are are historical dramas.
The Guernsey Literary and Pork Pie Society
This is the movie adaptation of the book (of the same name), and although I’ve never read the book I really enjoyed this movie! I thought the story was interesting and I thought it was a beautiful movie!
My sister told me about this mini-series. Usually, we like the same things and despite the fact she knows about my dislike of period pieces she told me to watch it. It took me an episode or two to get used to how it was filmed, and it is a Canadian tv show so keep that in mind (#lowbudget). However, after getting used to it I was hooked and binged the entire show in one afternoon. I loved the mystery of it all and was obsessed with trying to solve the mystery.
Again, a show based on a book. I’m the kinda morbid person that likes shows about serial killers and this came up on my recommends on Netflix. I will warn you – it is inappropriate at times and very graphic, definitely not for the faint-hearted. However, despite that, it was a really good show! So well filmed and acted, and the plot line was really interesting. Definitely worth a watch!
Kinfolk / Issue 16
This is not a book, but it might as well be! I picked up my first Kinfolk recently and I love it! I love the idea of a magazine that is filled with beautiful photography and pieces of writing that truly mean something. I picked up the Essentials Issue, but I definitely have my eye on a couple of the other issues as well. It’s a huge source of inspiration for me.
A Travellers History
While I was on Holiday in Houston I went to the Fine Arts Museum (the photos from this visit are here), and I saw a lot of Italian art (which is my favourite kind obviously). It got me thinking that I’ve seen a lot of Italian art but I don’t know anything about it. While perusing the gift shop I spotted this book! I figured it would be perfect for me, so when I do finally make my way back to Italy I can have a better understanding of everything I see!
The GaryVee Audio Experience
I love this podcast. Truthfully, I’d never heard of Gary Vee before but my cousin mentioned him and now I’m a little obsessed with his podcast. With new episodes daily (!) that are filled with useful information if you love any sort of social media platform. Definitely worth a listen if you want to learn some straightforward, no bs info on social media.
The Health Code
These podcasts are so easy to listen to and are really informative. I love to put one on and just go for a walk. The only flaw is that they haven’t uploaded a new episode in a while.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. I think he’s a fantastic artist and his music has been the only thing I have listened to nearly all month! Another Irish singer with deep heavy voice? Are we surprised at all?
That’s it for my Summer favourites! I’ve had a great summer and I hope you have as well!
