I love my spring makeup routine, I’ve fine-tuned it into a look that I not only love but is simple, quick, and easy. My look takes me five to ten minutes to complete, and can easily be added to for more of a glam look.
My first step once I’ve finished my skin care is this Photo Loving Primer from NYX. Its a silicone primer and in my opinion an almost perfect dupe for the SmashBox Photo Finish primer. While it isn’t my favourite product it does make my makeup go on nicely and I’ll definitely keep using it until its finished.
After I prime, I use my IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream. I do have to apply it with a beauty blender to make it blend nicely, and I do need to top up on my oily areas during the day, but it has a really gorgeous dewy finish, has SPF 50, and matches my skin so nicely (pale af).
The next step is the All-In-One Concealer, right now I really like this one I got from The Body Shop. It was one of those products that I bought but wasn’t sure about. I wanted a liquid concealer but I couldn’t find one I liked in my shade so I got this one and just threw it in my drawer, and recently rediscovered it! It’s really creamy and it has a gorgeous finish, so I’m really happy with it.
Next I use a powder. I dropped my usual pressed powder a couple weeks ago and I haven’t repurchased a new one yet, so I stole this Matte Setting Powder one from Cover FX that my mom didn’t like and I’ve been using it. It is a matte finish, and although I’m all about the glowing dewy look lately I really like it! It makes my makeup set nicely and stay so much longer, while also keeping down a bit of the shine from my oily areas. However, I don’t like loose powders, so I’m on the lookout for a new pressed powder. If you have any suggestions lets me know!
After I do my mascara – currently I am using BadGal Bang from Benefit, which honestly isn’t my favourite. I am really loving a natural looking lash right now and this is NOT that. But I paid $17 for it, so I am going to keep using it.
Then I do my brows using Boy Brow by Glossier. I am not good at brows and I have no idea what I’m doing so I just run this through my brows to add a bit more colour and then I say I’m done.
Lastly in my routine is my lips. I have always loved the idea of lipstick but always found it so hard to wear. Recently I picked up a lip liner from Rimmel (in the colour Natural) which has made things SO much easier! It makes my lipstick last so much longer but wears down nicely too so that I don’t get weird patches of lipstick left over. It looks gorgeous under nude lipsticks or just on its own. My two favourite lipsticks recently are Mac’ “Hue” which is a pinky nude, and L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in “Glossy Fawn” which is more of a browny nude.
That’s my daily (non-work) spring routine. Sometimes if I’m feeling fancy I add a pink/brown eyeshadow and some eyeliner but usually, that’s it! For the late spring to summer I will definitely be adding a blush, bronzer, and highlight to my routine.
Over the next couple weeks I’ll be doing some more makeup/skincare posts, so check back for those! And you can find the rest of my beauty posts here!
