Today’s post is a mini book review!
I always struggle with finding new (good) books to read, so I figured I would share some that I’ve read recently just in case you are interested. I don’t think its any secret that I love science fiction. Whether it be movies or books I’m all about alternative and futuristic themes. Give me all the aliens and dystopian societies, please.
If that’s not your cup of tea, you probably won’t like these books.
Artemis // Andy Weir
The newest book by the author who wrote the best selling book The Martian. This book, from what I’ve seen, got really awful reviews, but I thought it was a good read. If you can get over the completely unnecessary sexualization of the main character that does zero for the plot, it has a really interesting concept! The detailed descriptions of the setting, a futuristic space city on Mars, were fascinating and so easy to picture. The concept was interesting and kept me on my toes, overall I thought it was really well written.
Ready Player One / Ernest Cline
This book is about to expire, and by that, I mean that it’s about to become a major motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg. So before you go look at the trailer on youtube (!!), or watch the movie, I implore you to read the book unspoiled. Set in the year 2044, this story looks into the issues that developed in the western world (which are terrifyingly realistic), and the coping mechanisms our society created to deal with them. Featuring a virtual utopia and a treasure hunt for half a trillion dollars this book is not easy to put down.
